 Making of the Book

Needless to say, the Universal Dream Key book project has involved many years of research. The ideas behind this research are described in the Introduction, About Universal Dreams. But there is also a physical story of people and dreams,  machines and media, conferences and conversations. This part of the story is presented to acknowledge those relationships and offer guidance to those who are planning dream research, either online or off.

I.  Collecting Data

As mentioned in the introduction the survey reflected the 12 Universal Dream Themes that I had developed from my analysis of the worldwide collections of thousands of dreams, a synthesis of the professional literature on dream content, and my own 50-year-long dream diary.

The survey was placed online at my website, and notices were sent out to both online and offline sources, including Usenet Newsgroups related to dreams and dreaming, Electric Dreams e-zine, the Association for the Study of Dreams,............
